Is your Apple Wallet suddenly a billboard for the latest blockbusters? You’re not alone. Many iPhone users are reporting an influx of movie advertisements popping up directly in their Apple Wallet app. While Apple’s intention might be to offer convenient movie ticket purchases and information, the execution is feeling more like spam for many.
The good news? There’s a relatively simple way to regain control of your Wallet and silence the unwanted movie ads. Here’s how:
- Open the Wallet app.
- Tap the three dots (…) in the upper right-hand corner of the movie ad. If you don’t see three dots, tap on the ad to open it, and then look for the three dots.
- Select ‘Turn Off Notifications.’ This should prevent future movie ads from appearing in your Wallet.
Alternatively, you can manage Wallet notifications more broadly through your iPhone’s settings:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap ‘Notifications.’
- Scroll down and tap ‘Wallet.’
- Customize your notification settings. You can choose to disable all notifications, or selectively allow alerts for specific things like transactions while blocking everything else. Consider toggling off ‘Allow Notifications’ entirely if the spam is too much.
While some users appreciate the occasional reminder of a new movie release, the current implementation feels intrusive to many. Hopefully, Apple will refine its approach to Wallet advertising in the future, giving users more granular control over the types of notifications they receive. For now, these steps should help you reclaim your Wallet and enjoy a less cluttered iPhone experience.
